Felix, my beloved companion for 16 years, entered my life when I was just 19. Born feral in the swamps of Florida, Felix was the runt of his litter and did not have a tail. With his bright blue eyes (that later turned green), bow legs, and unique mohawk-like cowlick, he instantly captured my heart. Despite warnings about potential health issues in Manx cats, I knew we were meant to be together.
Throughout multiple cross-country moves and the challenges of my twenties, Felix remained a constant source of comfort and joy. He greeted me at the door every time I came home and was always by my side. Felix was so full of love. He adored kittens and helped raise multiple during his life. He loved to sit on our laps, be involved in everything we did, and always wanted to be in on the action. His vibrant energy and love for treats made him unforgettable to everyone he met.
In his last years, Felix faced health challenges with incredible spirit, enduring daily medicines and weekly injections with stride. A month before his passing, we celebrated his 16th birthday with a party surrounded by loved ones, a testament to the joy he brought to all.
On April 24th, 2024, at 10:24 AM, Felix peacefully passed away in my arms. We buried him under a dogwood tree in our yard, because he was my cat-dog. Felix brought so much joy to my life, and now there is a Felix-shaped hole in my heart. His spirit will forever live within me, and I hope he is now basking in sun rays and enjoying endless tuna and pets.
