small black dog with a cape

Dexter was the sweetest, most stubborn miniature schnauzer ever. Unfortunately, he got both the best and the worst traits of his breed and suffered from heart disease and diabetes. I first took him to OSU for his heart problems in late 2020 and he received a pacemaker thanks to the amazing cardiology team there. In 2023 he was diagnosed with diabetes, and he and I spent many hours in the car driving back and forth to OSU from our home in Eugene as his internal medicine team tried to get his condition under control. I cannot express how much I appreciated the time, energy, and care his team at OSU provided (along with much comfort to me and my family) during the past four years. This photo is from when I picked him up after his pacemaker implantation. It made me feel so much relief and joy to see him looking like a superhero in that difficult time.
