After 15 1/2 years together, last night I said goodbye to Kodak.
He was my first small dog. My first rat terrier. He was my first “sport dog”. He participated in the first barn hunt and first nosework trials in the area. He was one of the first rat terriers to get titles in nose work and barn hunt. (For those who do barn hunt, his BH number was 00086!). So many firsts with this guy!
He was one of the smartest dogs I’ve had. At 15 years old he was still competing in trials and was just a few points short of his next title.
Unfortunately a week before Christmas he was diagnosed with what appeared to be liver cancer. He had been doing so well, running, playing, asking to train etc, that even though it was expected, yesterday was not expected. But once again my amazing vet was able to come to the house. He is now pain free, happily chasing sticks and balls, hunting rats, and digging holes with Kiva to his heart’s content.
