Dear CVM Faculty,
I am pleased to announce that Pfizer Animal Health Inc. will again sponsor the Pfizer Award for Research Excellence. The Pfizer research award, consisting of an inscribed plaque and $1,000, recognizes a faculty member who has attained or is likely to attain a national reputation for research excellence.
Please note that nominees must be presently employed as a full-time faculty member of the College and should be the principal investigator in research conducted within the past three years.
Any faculty member may nominate a qualified candidate. The nomination consists of a nominating statement and Curriculum Vitae and should be submitted to Debrah Rarick by March 30, 2011. Nominations will be reviewed by the Research Committee.
Recent recipients of this prestigious award are: Drs. Dan Rockey (05), Beth Valentine (06), Mahfuzur Sarker (07), Kathy Magnusson (08), Michael Kent (09) and Erica McKenzie (10).
To insure that sufficient nominations are received and that both academic departments are represented, I am asking department heads to coordinate submission of at least two nominations from each department.
The New Investigator Award is sponsored by the College and has the following criteria:
● Recipient must be tenure-track (not tenured) or within 5 years of initial renewable fixed term academic faculty appointment (instructors, senior research and clinical faculty), with an appointment of at least 0.5 FTE in the College of Veterinary Medicine.
● Potential for development of nationally/internationally reputable research program, based on quality and quantity of published scholarship, and extramural funding appropriate to the research disciplinary interest.
● Nominations will be reviewed by the Research Committee.
Any faculty member may nominate a qualified candidate. The nomination consists of a nominating statement and Curriculum Vitae and should be submitted to Debrah Rarick by March 30, 2011.

Sincerely,
Cyril
