Biography

My name is Heather, and I am a part of the class of 2025. I grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico but moved to Colorado for my bachelor’s and master’s degrees, which I got from Colorado State University. My background includes being a vet technician for multiple years before getting into vet school in the shelter medicine and equine industries and my interests lie in practicing Equine Sports Medicine and Rehab as well as Equine Diagnostic Imaging when I graduate. Besides being a CCVM student ambassador, I am the president of the Radiology club and Foal Team and the equine student ambassador for Dechra. Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my dog and cat, as well as riding my horse and competing in Three-Day Eventing. Technically, I qualify as a “non-traditional student” since I took my time deciding if I really wanted to go to vet school so if you have any questions about applying as a non-traditional
student, making your application competitive, or even how to balance your school work and owning and competing animals, feel free to reach out!
