Biography

Hello! My name is Luis, and I am a current second year student (Class of 2026) who is currently interested in all species! While I’m still undecided, I currently plan to track small animal but will do my best to be able to incorporate exotic species. I hope to be able to work in a small or mixed practice that includes exotic species as well in the future. However, the idea of specializing also heavily interests me, so at the moment I am not too sure what the future will hold but I’m excited about all the opportunities that may be available to me! Most of my experience has been in small animal practice but I hope to work more this summer and potentially do externships that allow me to explore other options. My current positions in school include being the Co-President for the Class of 2026, Co-President of the ZWE (Zoo, Wildlife, and Exotics) Club, and a CCVM Student Ambassador. So, if you have any questions about any of those positions feel free to reach out.

I was born in Mexico, but I have lived in Omaha, Nebraska the majority of my life where I attended the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) for my undergrad studies. I moved up to Oregon to attend Veterinary school in 2022 so I am now a bit more comfortable with the area, but if you’re a local, you probably have me beat in that regard. In my free time I enjoy swimming, cycling, and running as well as just hanging out with friends and family. Through cycling and running I have explored a lot of the Corvallis/surrounding area so if that is something that you are into, I could potentially be of help! :) Feel free to reach out with any questions about vet school or anything else unrelated!
