William was a once in a lifetime cat. He was a Shaded Silver Persian (a fancy cat and purebred)....who is the first purebred cat I have ever purchased from a breeder. I had always dreamed of having a persian. 6 years ago, I purchased William from a breeder in Salem. He was an 8 week old kitten and the cutest kitten I had ever seen. Normally I rescue older shelter cats no one wants.....but I just wanted one time to raise a cat from kitten hood. William was my son. From the moment we brought him home, he never acted like a persian. He was intent on going outside to be a fierce hunter of neighborhood mice, climbing trees and fences and generally being an adventure cat. He was never content to be a lap cat. Every time we saw him, we would squeal with delight because his grumpy face always made us permanently happy. We were horrified to learn a few months ago that William had kidney disease as well as some sort of tumor in his mouth (that was cancerous). We feel so cheated that we only got to enjoy and love on him for 6 years. There will never be another William.
