Hi there! My name is Simran Nagi and I am a current 2nd year here at CCVM (Class of 2027). I come from a diverse background and have lived in a few places before coming to Oregon. I was born in Punjab, India but for the most part grew up in Santa Rosa, CA. I have been in the veterinary field for a very long time and around animals my whole life. After being an assistant for a few years, I first decided to go to tech school where I graduated in 2018. I then worked as a technician for a little more than 5 years before coming to CCVM. I did my undergrad here at Oregon State in Corvallis and graduated in 2022 with a Bachelor’s in Biology. I fell in love with Oregon and have long wanted to be a part of CCVM, so here I am! You can catch me around campus as the DEI Co-Chair for ℅ 2027, the Zoetis Student Representative, the Secretary of IVMC, and as a member of the ZWE board.
Currently, my interests are focused on small animal surgery and wildlife/exotic medicine. I hope to be able to work in a mixed animal practice that includes wildlife and exotics in the future but I am also very interested in specializing so we will see! I have not fully decided how I am going to track but am excited about all of the opportunities that may come my way! I am looking forward to doing more wildlife internships this summer as I travel abroad to gain more experience.
When I'm not traveling, this summer I also plan to do lots of hiking and exploring around Oregon with my husband and our friends. Besides school, being outdoors is one of my favorite things. I love to be in my backyard gardening, reading, or just spending time with my 3 dogs and 2 cats. I am a very artsy/crafty person so you can always find me working on a new project like painting, henna work, sewing, or making random things for organizing around my house. I love to learn about new cultures and languages so I also watch lots of international shows and speak a few languages. If you have any questions about school, life, or have some common hobbies, please don’t hesitate to reach out! I would love to get in touch!
