Ana Pacheco joined OSU in 2018. She is originally from Brazil and has graduated from veterinary school at Universidade Federal de Uberlândia in 2005. After a surgical internship at London Equine Hospital (Ontario, Canada), she did a Large Animal Internal Medicine Residency at Tufts University in Massachusetts. She then stayed at Tufts for one more year as an emergency clinician and Dorothy Havemeyer Research fellow. Dr. Pacheco then worked for 6 years at Genesee Valley Equine Clinic, a private practice in upstate New York. During that time, she saw a large number of horses for internal medicine conditions, sports medicine and primary care.
At OSU, Dr. Pacheco spends most of her days on clinics receiving large animal internal medicine cases and supervising house officers and senior veterinary students during their rotations. She also teaches lectures and labs to the third year veterinary students and is planning to do some research in her areas of interest. Dr. Pacheco loves the intellectually stimulating environment of academia and really enjoys interacting with her students on clinics and in class.
In her spare time, Dr. Pacheco enjoys rock climbing, hiking and backpacking with her husband Mike and her German Shepherd Connor. She loves to explore all the diverse outdoor opportunities that Oregon has to offer.
