Dr. Joe Klopfenstein is a field service veterinarian specializing in food and fiber producing animals. Joe grew up in the Midwest and graduated from Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1983. Prior to his position in academia Joe enjoyed a long private practice career at a dairy practice in Vermont where, in addition to his commercial dairy clients, he developed a special relationship with many innovative artisan cheese producers. Joe has a special interest in milk quality, artisan production, and dairy and beef production, management, and health. Joe is board certified by the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners in dairy practice and was recognized as the Bovine Practitioner of the Year by the American Association of Bovine Practitioners in 2010. Joe and his wife Nancy enjoy their fruit and vegetable gardens and exploring the beautiful Pacific Northwest.
