"Dr. Jorge Vanegas was born and raised in Bogota, Colombia. He received his veterinary degree from the University of La Salle in 1997. After exposure to the working life of a Large Animal Veterinarian in North America during his last year of veterinary school, he decided to move to the United States in 1999. After working for few years as a herdsman for a 600-cow dairy in the Midwest, he moved to California where he completed a residency program in dairy production medicine and a Masters in Preventive Veterinary Medicine at the University of California, Davis. After his residency, he practiced as a dairy cattle veterinarian in Tulare, California. He joined the faculty in the Carlson College of Veterinary Medicine at Oregon State University in the fall of 2009. Dr. Vanegas primary interests are related to cattle and small ruminant production medicine with particular emphasis to milk quality, reproductive management of dairy herds, lameness and employee farm training.

Outside of work, he can often be found running in the hills of Corvallis, mountain biking and spending time with his family including his 2 crazy dogs!!"
